We are week 3 bound and on hand we have a ton of intriguing matchups in Northern Virginia. School Media Pass pending I will be at Woodson vs Oakton contest with my assistants (my sons) on hand for the fun. Last week my forecast trended in the right direction at 3-1 and will look to stay on the winning side as we approach conference play.
Westfield @ Langley
Star potential on both sides, longtime starting quarterbacks Ryan Carlson (Westfield) and Cole Samburg (Langley) have been outstanding. The home Saxons squad had an impressive win over Herndon while Westfield pulled away from Fairfax. Two well coached teams that look evenly matched across the board. Freddys Forecast Langley 24 Westfield 17
West Springfield @ Madison- I would bet both schools are hurting from last week. West Springfield could not get going in the second half in their loss against Chantilly, while Madison gave up a 3-score lead to Lake Braddock. The Warhawks have seem to have found their stride offensively, they need to hold steady at home or a 0-3 start awaits. Freddys Forecast Madison 20 West Springfield 14
South Lakes @ Battlefield-
A pair of undefeated squads that have certainly faced some adversity to begin their 2025 campaigns. South Lakes had a major comeback two weeks ago against Yorktown and stood on business last week facing Robinson. Meanwhile Battlefield will have junior quarterback Ethan Stowell the rest of this year under center. Richmond commit Calum O’Shea suffered a season-ending injury in their comeback win over North Stafford, so it will be Stowell’s show going forward. Freddys Forecast Battlefield 28 South Lakes 14
Yorktown @ Centreville
The Yorktown Patriots got their swagger back with a 50-0 dusting over Jackson-Reed. Rutgers Commit Brady Owens should be a primary target for their offense the rest of the season. Centreville was on a bye last week but while they came up short against Forest Park, the Wildcats showed how explosive their offense can be. Scoring 47 points in a overtime loss, Albany future star Will Shields was slinging it! Shields threw for 359 yards and watch out for his favorite target receiver Jourdan Simpson. The senior had over 100 yards receiving in the outing, he is a home run threat. This game has a crazy shootout in the making. Freddys Forecast Yorktown 41 Centreville 38
