The South County Stallions, under the seasoned leadership of head coach Gerry Pannoni, are ready to defend their standing as a powerhouse in the Patriot District. Despite a solid 9-3 finish last year, Pannoni sees room for improvement as he aims to restore the team culture to its former glory. This season marks his second year back after a three-year hiatus, during which the Stallions remained strong contenders in the state title race.

Reflecting on last season, Pannoni highlighted the need for a cultural shift despite the team's continued success. "We finished a disappointing 9-3. We need to shift the team culture," he emphasized. To address this, the team has rededicated itself to leadership training during the offseason, aiming to bolster the unity and determination that have long defined South County football.

The team faces one of the most challenging schedules in the state, mirroring last year's lineup. Each game will test their resilience and skill, with key matchups against traditional district powerhouses being particularly critical.

Replacing 30 seniors, many of whom were three-year starters, is no small feat. Yet, Pannoni is optimistic about the young, talented squad ready to step up. Among the standout players to watch this season are Hunter Malecki, one of the best defensive linemen in the state at 6’4” and 250 pounds; Tyler Orth, recognized as one of the top receivers in the state with 60 receptions for 1,020 yards and 7 touchdowns last season; and Jordan Muhanyi, a late-blooming offensive lineman standing at 6’4” and weighing 240 pounds. Their presence on the field is expected to be formidable, with Malecki anchoring the defense, Orth making crucial plays in the offense, and Muhanyi protecting the quarterback and establishing the run game.

As the Stallions embark on this new season, the focus will be on maintaining their dominance and continuing to demonstrate resilience on the field. With Pannoni at the helm and a roster of promising talent, South County is set to remain a formidable force in the Patriot District.
