This week, Langley High School's quarterback, Cole Samburg, has earned the title of Player of the Week for his exceptional performance on the field and his invaluable leadership off it. As a junior, Cole has shown tremendous maturity and skill, guiding his team to a crucial victory with an impressive display of athleticism and composure.

Cole's stats for the week highlight his all-around game management and efficiency: completing 14 of 22 passes for 203 yards, rushing for 19 yards, and scoring three touchdowns with zero interceptions. His biggest play of the game came early, with a stunning 68-yard touchdown pass to running back Robert Roncskevitz on the opening drive, setting the tone for the rest of the contest. "That opening drive touchdown was a big moment for us," Cole said. "It gave our team a lot of confidence and momentum right from the start."

Beyond his statistical contributions, Cole's leadership has been a driving force for Langley's success. "I feel like I kept spirits high and brought energy all week in practice," he reflected. "Motivating the team all week and into the game was my main focus." One of the key moments that stood out to him during the game was Will Mascatello's crucial 4th down conversion on a fullback dive late in the fourth quarter. "It was a turning point that really showed our team's determination and grit," Cole remarked.

What drives Cole to perform at his best is his deep commitment to his teammates and coaches. "The thought of letting down my teammates and coaches after all the hard work and dedication they've put in definitely motivates me," he shared. He draws inspiration from his Head Coach, Coach Potteiger, who stepped up to lead the team at the start of the season. "Coach Potteiger inspires me to be the best version of myself," Cole noted. "His leadership and dedication have been a huge influence on me and the entire team."

This season hasn’t been without its challenges for Cole and his team. Losing their head coach right before the season could have been a significant setback, but Cole and his teammates turned it into an opportunity to come together. "It was definitely an obstacle, but we did a great job of using it in a positive way," Cole explained. "We came closer as a family and used it as motivation to keep moving forward."

In high-pressure situations, Cole remains calm and focused, trusting his teammates to make plays. "I make sure to stay calm, trust my teammates, and do my job in giving the playmakers on our team the ball," he said, a strategy that has clearly paid off in key moments.

Looking forward, Cole's primary goal for the season is to earn and win a home playoff game, a testament to his drive and ambition. Off the field, Cole enjoys a variety of sports, including lacrosse, hockey, and golf, and values time with his friends. He also has a pre-game ritual that helps him stay sharp: getting some throws in with his wide receiver, Vinny.

To his teammates and coaches, Cole expresses gratitude: "Thank you for always believing and trusting in me!" His appreciation for the support and trust he receives reflects his humble nature and commitment to the team's success.

Congratulations to Cole Samburg on earning Player of the Week! His leadership, poise, and performance have been pivotal to Langley High School's success, and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next! Go Saxons!
