Arlington VA-Harry Maltese had 4 rushing touchdowns including two in the first quarter that put the visiting Fairfax Lions out in front early, where they would stay. The Lions defeated the Wakefield Warriors by a score of 29-6 on a beautiful Monday afternoon in Arlington. The Warriors showed a ton of fight in this one, battling what should be a playoff contender till the final whistle.

The first quarter began with a pair of Harry Maltese touchdown runs and Wakefield found themselves in an early 14-0 hole. The Warriors would get going offensively early in the second quarter with a couple of Isaiah Ledbetter runs but a fumble ended that scoring opportunity.

Fairfax played this game without running back Ethan Lynch so Coach Taylor was relying on Maltese to carry the load in this contest. Midway through the second quarter the senior running back added his third touchdown of the half with a 14-yard scamper putting the Lions up 22-0.

Wakefield would break through two plays later when Isaiah Ledbetter took a handoff 80 yards outpacing the entire Fairfax defense. PAT was blocked but right before halftime we had a game in hand with the score of 22-6.

To start the third quarter Fairfax defense forced a pair of three and outs and midway through the quarter Maltese added his fourth score of the day with a 4-yard bulldozing run (29-6).  Maltese had well over 100 yards on the ground today and he accounted for nearly ¾ of the total offense for the Lions.

Wakefield was not about to quit as Ledbetter brought them into the redzone on a couple of tough runs. After the Warriors drive stalled at the 10 their scoring attempt was halted by a blocked field goal. Fairfax defensive front would take over the rest of the way as Davon Tolson and Travis McClain took over. Both top ranked defensive linemen got home for a pair of sacks, and they put this game on ice.

Fairfax (1-0) will come home next week to welcome Oakton (0-1), while Wakefield will be home again to face Anacostia.
