The Edison Eagles are gearing up for another exciting football season under the guidance of Head Coach Chad Lewis. Last year, the Eagles had their best season since 2009, finishing with an impressive 8-3 record The highlight of their season was winning their district for the first time since 2008 and hosting a regional playoff game. The team also celebrated a monumental victory over their long-time rival, Hayfield, in the "Battle of the Birds" game, a triumph that was a significant milestone for both the program and the school.

As the new season approaches, Coach Lewis is optimistic about the direction the team is heading. The offseason has been marked by hard work, dedication, and a renewed sense of accountability among the players. This commitment to the program's values has laid a solid foundation for what promises to be an exhilarating season.

The schedule this year is packed with tough opponents, and the Eagles are eagerly anticipating their kickoff against Washington and Liberty. Every game is expected to be a test of their mettle, with each matchup presenting a unique challenge. Coach Lewis and his team are counting the days until they can showcase their skills on the field.

However, the team will face the significant task of filling the void left by several key players from last season. Notable departures include QB Eli Williams, who was named District Player of the Year and earned 1st Team All Region and All District honors before moving on to Emory and Henry. Other key losses include DB/WR Dillon Rhoe (Virginia State), WR Andreas Hill (Richmond), DE Quincy Ehuman (Old Dominion), OL/DL Max Evans, RB Dayshaun Lloyd, LB Nelson Sanchez (Averette), and DL Geno O’Neil. These seniors were instrumental in last year's success, and their leadership and skills will be missed.

Despite these losses, the Eagles have a roster full of talent ready to step up. Senior WR/DB Clifton Dorsey, who earned 2nd Team All Region and 1st Team All District honors, is expected to be a major contributor. Other key returning players include Senior LB Josh Garcia, Junior WR Bryce Shelton, Senior DB/LB Taylor Smith, Senior LB Tannor Smith, Senior LB/TE JoJo Walker, Senior WR Owen Morris, Senior OL/DL Ayael Eslaquit, Senior C/DL Gabe Kim, Senior LB Tyler Tate, Senior TE/DE Preston Kurka, and Senior QB Johnathan Kasahun.

The combination of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers gives the Edison Eagles a balanced and potent lineup. With the lessons learned from last year's successes and the commitment of the players, Coach Lewis and the Edison Eagles are poised to make another deep run this season.
