This week, senior quarterback Jackson Scaperotto from Robinson Secondary School has been named Player of the Week for his extraordinary performance and leadership on the field. Wearing jersey #3, Jackson demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, leading his team to a crucial win with 175 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no turnovers—a flawless execution despite facing significant personal challenges.
Jackson's standout moment came with a 57-yard touchdown pass to his teammate Keegan Zlystra, a play that effectively sealed the victory for Robinson. "That pass was definitely the highlight of the week for me," Jackson said. "It was a big moment that put the game away and ensured our win."
Jackson's contribution to the team’s success goes far beyond the stat sheet. Despite playing with what he described as "pretty much broken ribs," he refused to let his injury hold him back. "I like to lead by example," he shared. "I pulled through and did my job to secure the win." His resilience and commitment under such tough conditions have set a standard for his teammates to follow.
One key moment that stood out to Jackson during the game was right after halftime. "We got the ball back on a kickoff, and that led to our first touchdown," he recounted. This momentum shift was crucial in building the team's confidence and setting the stage for their eventual victory.
When it comes to motivation, Jackson’s driving force is his desire to win. "What motivates me is the simple fact that I don’t want to lose," he stated. "I know what I'm capable of and how I can use it." He credits his offensive coordinator for helping him stay focused and positive, especially after a bad play. "He always picks my head up and talks to me daily about football and how I'm doing," Jackson added.
This week wasn't without its challenges. After injuring his ribs in a previous game against South County, Jackson faced difficulties that impacted his throwing ability. However, he remained determined, working throughout the week to prepare for their next game against South Lakes. "I did as much as I could to get ready," he explained, showcasing his commitment to his team and his sport.
In high-pressure situations, Jackson employs a unique strategy to stay calm. "I take deep breaths and like to crack a few jokes in the huddle to lighten the mood a little," he shared. This approach not only helps him stay focused but also keeps his teammates relaxed and ready to perform.
Looking ahead, Jackson has set ambitious goals for the rest of the season. He aims to surpass 1,000 passing yards and score over 25 touchdowns. Beyond this season, his passion for football continues to drive him, both on and off the field.
Off the field, Jackson enjoys spending time with his teammates playing video games, watching film, and following college and NFL football. He also has some unique pre-game rituals, like always putting on his left shoe first and wearing the same socks every week, believing these small habits help him stay focused and prepared.
To his teammates and coaches, Jackson has a simple yet powerful message: "1-0 this week." His focus remains on taking each game one at a time, striving for consistent improvement and success.
Congratulations to Jackson Scaperotto for earning the Player of the Week honor! His toughness, leadership, and dedication make him a standout player and an invaluable asset to the Robinson Secondary football team.
